That is a picture of a Sonic Boom. Pretty cool, huh? I used to hear them all the time when I was a kid. I think we lived in the flight path of a military base or something, but it was always an event when you would hear one of these explosive booms in the middle of a clear day. Why dont we hear them anymore? As cool as Sonic Booms are, they are not as cool as cloudbursts. With a cloudburst, you get the same incredible ear-shattering booming outburst, but then the most bone drenching crash of sudden rain that can only be described as awesome follows it. We had a perfect blustery weekend here in Seattle this weekend. No Sonic Booms or cloudbursts, but the wind whipped up the fall trees, so it was not only pouring rain, but pouring leaves and pine needles. Sasha was almost brained by a falling branch, so we spent the rest of the weekend snuggled up indoors while watching the weather from our safe and warm perch.
